Dale Swanson founded Pyrotek in 1956 on an idea. Dale’s concept was to adapt fiberglass fabric technology into a filter designed to capture impurities in molten aluminium. Today, Dale’s filtration system is a global standard. Dale, together with partner Allan Roy, inspired the spirit of continuing innovation and advancing technologies in Pyrotek, helping propel the company from a small filter sewing operation to a global corporation providing hundreds of innovative products. Pyrotek is now a world leader serving the aluminium industry with equipment, products and services. Pyrotek also serves the molten steel, hearth, glass, and sound insulation industries.
In his private life, Dale was a dedicated philanthropist, supporting global reach organizations that target ecosystem preservation including Conservation International and the Nature Conservancy. On a local level, he and his wife Doris generously supported the Community Colleges of Spokane, the YMCA and other community organizations. Dale had an insatiable passion for the great outdoors, which took him around the world seeking knowledge and adventure sport. He was an avid reader and a skilled writer, who possessed a rare talent for analyzing and understanding business trends. Dale never stopped learning, traveling, or contributing a testament to a life well lived.
