Through our low vision clinic we aim to optimize the vision of patients suffering from low vision. In cases where the vision cannot be improved, we aim to train the patients on how to improve their quality of life with the help of low vision aids. At our Low Vision clinic, a multidisciplinary team of doctors and rehabilitative specialists works closely with the patient and family to assist an individual in regaining functionality lost by visual impairments. This typically includes addressing vision issues causing problems with reading, driving and activities of daily living.

The department is staffed with specially trained optometricians who have the skill and expertise required to work with these lenses.

All the clinics at REH are supported by a talented team of anesthesiologists, who make sure that every surgery is a painless experience for the patient.

We have been pioneers in the Topical Anaesthesia technique for cataract surgery since 1999,in which no injection is given around the eye and the surgery is totally pain free. Prior to this, we had also pioneered the PeribulbarTechnique of local anaesthesia in India, which is a safe and convenient technique for eye surgeries.

The department is headed by Dr. Rasesh Diwan who also served as the President of Gujarat chapter of Indian society of anesthesiology. He is also the advanced cardiac life support coordinator for the American Heart Association.

We are equipped with latest gadgets, monitors and anaesthesia workstations. In case of any surgery, pain is one of the biggest concerns of the patient and we take all the necessary measures to put the patient’s mind at ease and ensure that it is a painless experience. The approach followed by the department is unique because the anesthesiology team constantly coordinates with the patient right from the pre-surgery stage till post-surgery. This ensures that all our patients walkout of the operation theatre with a pleasant experience and without any adverse memories.

With the increase in incidence of diabetes and increase in life expectancy, the risk of retinal disorders such as diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration has gone up. We continuously make efforts to create awareness in patients suffering from diseases such as diabetes, heart conditions, high blood pressure, etc. who are more susceptible to be affected by retinal disorders. In some cases, the damage caused to the eye is irreversible. Therefore, we also conduct regular family screening clinics, diabetes screening clinics etc. so that we can identify retina disorders before they grow to a vision threatening stage.

The Pediatric Eye Clinic at REH was started with the aim of providing the best quality of eye care to children as we consider this as our medical and social responsibility. Over the last 20 years, more than 3000 children with cataracts, glaucoma as well as other disorders have been successfully treated and visually rehabilitated. The clinic has a team comprising of specialist ophthalmologists, experienced surgeons, anesthesiologists, and pediatric coordinators. We have a dedicated, state of the art operating room for pediatric eye surgery equipped with the latest surgical equipment. More importantly, the entire team is always prepared to provide technical support and guidance to the children and their families so that the child gets a lifetime of useful vision.

Glaucoma is today one of the commonest causes for irreversible vision loss, particularly in India. At REH, we make a special effort to detect glaucoma in its earliest stages before it causes a total loss of vision. The Glaucoma Clinic is staffed by experienced experts whose published studies of glaucoma and its care have been recognized as the most quoted opinions among eye doctors. Our doctors use their vast experience to help the patients choose the best course of treatment from medication, laser treatment or surgery. The doctors also provide evaluations of the diagnosis and the treatment options to the patients.

The Cornea Clinic at REH is equipped with the most advanced technology for the treatment of corneal disorders. The doctors in the department are extremely well versed in the subject and educate the patients about improving their eye health and the reason behind their impairments. The technology used for the procedures is such that it reduces the risk of any damage to the vision. We also have our own special clinic for designing corrective lenses suitable to the patient’s needs. Additionally, we have a separate Dry Eye Clinic dedicated for dealing with the problems of dry eye.

At the ProLasik Clinic, utmost care is taken to ensure patient safety and consistent results. We use advanced technology so that it reduces the chances of damage to the vision. We are proud to say that at present, we are the only center in the country offering “Completely Bladeless”, exclusive Femtosecond Laser LASIK solutions. Additionally, we use comprehensive eye exam to determine the eligibility of a patient for LASIK. In case the patient is not eligible for LASIK we have other procedures such as Photorefractive Kertectomy (PRK), implantable IOL lenses.
