Composition :
Meropenia™ 500 :
Meropenem Injection IP 500mg, Each vial contains: Meropenem IP (Sterile) equivalent to anhydrous Meropenem 500mg, sodium carbonate IP(Sterile) equivalent to Sodium (as buffer) 45.1mg.
Meropenia™ 1000 : Meropenem Injection IP 1000mg, Each vial contains: Meropenem IP (Sterile) equivalent to anhydrous Meropenem 1000mg, sodium carbonate IP(Sterile) equivalent to Sodium (as buffer) 90.2mg.

Mechanism of action:
Meropenem is a carbapenem antibiotic for parenteral use, that is stable to human dehydropeptidase-I (DHP-I). It is structurally similar to imipenem. Meropenem exerts its bactericidal action by interfering with the vital bacterial cell wall synthesis. The ease with which it penetrates bacterial cells, its high level of stability to all serine B-lactamases and its marked affinity for the Penicillin Binding Proteins (PBP) explains the potent bactericidal activity of Meropenem against a broad spectrum of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

Indications: Meropenia™
(MEROPENEM INJECTION IP) is indicated for treatment, in adults and children, of the following infections caused by single or multiple susceptible bacteria and as empiric therapy prior to the identification of the causative organisms:

1 . Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
2 . Urinary Tract Infections, including complicated infections
3 . Intra-abdominal Infections
4 . Gynecological Infections
5 . kin and Skin Structure Infections
6 . Meningitis
7 . Septicemia
8 . Empiric treatment, including initial monotherapy, for presumed bacterial infections in host-compromised, neutropenic patients.

On account of of its broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, MEROPENEM INJECTION IP is effective for the treatment of polymicrobial infections.

Contraindications: Meropenia™
(Meropenem Injection IP) is contraindicated in patients which have demonstrated hypersensitivity to this product.
