Mineral oil antifoaming agents are composed of about 85-95% mineral oil and 1-3% hydrophobic particles. which contain emulsifiers, preservatives and other synergistic ingredients (such as modified polysiloxane). Aliphatic mineral oils are used as carrier oils.
Emulsifiers are needed in antifoamign agents to ensure effective dispersion of particles in mineral oil. Emulsifiers also make it easier to add antifoaming agents to coating formulations. Due to health protection reasons, alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (APEO) is no longer allowed to be used. Modern mineral oil antifoaming agents contain APEO-free emulsifiers.
In particular, high-level antifoaming agents used in high gloss latex paints often contain a small amount of modified polysiloxane to improve the spontaneous defoaming effect. Mineral oil defoamer is the most economical product.

Polymer defoaming agent is non-silicone defoamer which is developed by SumanChem.
It is not only  considering polysiloxanes as defoaming agent, there are also other polymer products that have a defoaming effect as a result of their incompatibility. Finding the right balance between “incompatible” and “compatible” is achieved by selective changes to the polarity and molecular weight (molecular weight distribution) of the polymer structures.

For polymer defoamers in water-based systems, hydrophobic particles are used to improve the defoaming function. the particles are based on hydrophobic silicas, polyurea or polyamide.
