In 1975 because of Mr. M.K. Ramanathan Iyer's ill health the business of Thayar Dairy was leased to Mr. M. Sundaram Chettiar to run with his own capital and funds and to maintain the good will reputation earned by his predecessor. The lease was further renewed in 1981 and 1984.   In those days the customers used to bring a separate vessel with hard bottom to purchase Butter and those vessels were not meant to be used for any other purpose. That system was though offered with some benefits as well, like, if we buy 1kg of Butter 760gms of Ghee will be procured later. In 1970's then the Butter was being packed in Banana leaf that gives a special fragrance to Butter while melting to Ghee and the quality and quantity were tend to be known. Nowadays people buy Butter and Coffee Powders sold in a petty provision shops, which lead to the degrading of quality generally.   Later, Mr. M. Sundaram, with the help of his wife S. Valliammai start preparing all the Masala Powders and Instant Rice Mix Powders by roasting on her own and both of them worked dedicatedly for the improvement of the business, which flourished well and got a good will and reputation among the general public as the items sold were fresh , unbeaten quality and a feel of homemade. This was hence termed as Home-links and the products so made were such as    Pickles Vathal Vadam Appalam Powders, etc   Mr. M. Sundaram on his part, always opens the shop at 7.15 and melts the fresh butter arrived at the Parcel Office, Mambalam Railway Station. This street, at that time, was only a residential area and not much commercialized. The melting flavours of Butter to Ghee fragrance attracted more people in and around. The people around there, were so impressed by the flavour and quality of the products that they started recommending their friends and relatives to buy Thayar Butter, Ghee, Appalam, Powders. This in turn brought a value for the street itself as a landmark. This helps Thayar to retwin and flourish its business clients for more than 3 generations, which is a god’s gift and showered blessings of kanchi Periaval.   Thanks to all who helped for the slow and steady growth of business   Sundaram advertised his products to the customers who approach them and told them. In January 1997 the predecessor in title obtained divine’s feet, who left us with his blessings to continue the business. In 1998 the building Housing Thayar Dairy was bought in favour of S. Ramanathan elder son of M.Sundaram as told by the son of predecessors Shri Mr. M.R. Muthu Krishnan and M.R. Chandrasekaran and the business was sold out in favour of S.Ramanathan in 1999 by both the sons.   Now the business was maintained and developed by the sons of Mr.M.Sundaram Chettiar namely S.Ramanathan and S.Muthukrishnan and now the business has been going on expanding to   Butter, Ghee, Appalam, Vadam, Vathal, Pickles Flour Preparations From Cereals And Pulses,  Pooja Books, Pooja And Homam Items,  General Provisions  Dry Fruits   Since then till date we are catering the needs of the regular clients and going on with the blessings of his predecessor Shri M.K. Ramanathan Iyer and their generations.+ Read More
