The all-purpose Automatic Identification System (AIS) Transas T105 serves to enhance maritime safety in open sea, coastal waters and inland waters by means of automatic exchange of navigation, static and route data between vessels and shore based stations. In compliance with the requirements of Chapter V “Safety of navigation” of the 2004 SOLAS Convention, all vessels with a deadweight exceeding 300 tons must be equipped with AIS equipment.
Functionality
The primary functions of the all-purpose AIS T105 system are:
  • automatic vessel identification;
  • system self-organisation during data exchange between vessels and control over access to radio channels;
  • application of GLONASS/GPS system signals to synchronise AIS data reception/transmission;
  • data reception via radio channel from other vessels, shore based centres and navigation equipment mounted at buoys or other areas dangerous for navigation;
  • transmission of the vessel’s data via radio channel for use by other vessels and shore based centres;
  • storage of static data intended for automatic transmission to a radio channel;
  • in case of external receiver failure, determination of vessel coordinates and motion parameters by means of a built-in GNSS receiver, capable of increasing the accuracy of coordinates determination by using differential corrections;
  • reception of GNSS differential corrections via the AIS channel to output them to the GNSS receiver;
  • output of data received via radio channel from other AIS objects for display in data display devices (OCB, ECDIS, Inland ECDIS, ECS, radar);
  • data exchange with other AIS objects and vessel-borne hardware in compliance with AIS standards;
  • reception of static and extra dynamic data and binary messages for transmission via radio channel; output of data on AIS serviceability and operating mode;

  • output of bearings and distances to vessels computed from received coordinates in VDL (VHF Data Link) channel and the vessel’s coordinates;
  • control over the WGS-84 coordinates system in compliance with the technical requirements of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation;
  • output of relative location at minimum display;
  • output of navigation signals to the marine security warning system.
