Travancore Engineering College

Travancore Engineering College was established in 2002 by Travancore Education Society, Kallambalam. The society was registered in 2001 under Charitable Societies Act of Travancore-Cochin 1955, by a group of visionaries and educationists with the intention of educational uplift of weaker sections.

Chairman of the Society is A. Sainulabdeen Poonthottam. One of the objectives of the Society was fulfilled with the establishment of Travancore Engineering College at Roadvila near Oyoor. The College started functioning with the approval from All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and Government of Kerala. The University of Kerala granted affiliation for B.Tech courses in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering with an intake of 60 students in each branch of study. The College started functioning in its permanent building on 21st October, 2002 under the able leadership of Dr. N. Kesavan Nair as the Principal.

During the years 2005 & 2008, the AICTE, after assessing the progress of the Institution, granted permission to start two additional B.Tech courses in Mechanical & Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 students each and in 2011 the College got approval for Telecommunication Engineering (Dept. of ECE). Today, the College has well equipped laboratories and workshops, qualified and experienced faculty members, a well stocked library, a fleet of vehicles, hostels and all other necessary facilities.

 In 2015, we will be starting M.Tech program in Thermal Science (Dept. of Mechanical Engg), and Computer Science & Engg (Dept. of CSE) with an intake of 18 each.

Campus

Travancore Engineering College is located in Roadvila, near Oyoor in Kollam District. The College is about 7km. away from MC road( Ayoor) and 16km. from NH 47 (Ithikkara). The nearest Railway station is Kollam, at a distance of 30km. The sprawling campus of 25 acres is quite and conductive to serious academic pursuit. Beautifully landscaped with flowering bushes, manicured lawns and horticultural plants making it ideal for intellectual and emotional growth of the scholars.

The main building of the College is a modern three storied, architecturally designed structure which accommodates College office, library,Chairman’s room,Principal’s room,Computer Science HOD cabin,Lab, Seminar hall and a few class rooms. Separate academic blocks house majority of classes for the all existing branches. Independent buildings to house a library and auditorium is on the anvil.
The Stadium is provided with 400m track for athletic events and is also suitable for football and cricket matches. Separate courts are provided for volleyball and shuttle badminton.
