There are several forts named Bhairavgad and they are situated in various districts. This Bhairavgad is situated in the forests of Koyna and is very interesting trek but very few people actually go there. The other bhairavgad forts are recognized after their base villages or the region like Morishi bhairav, Kalad bhairav etc.

Bhairav is an interesting Jungle treks where we get to see real dense forest. This forest is part of Koyna WLS which is now part of Sahyadri Reserve. The forest around this fort acts like a wildlife corridor between Koyna and Chandoli forests. This fort used to be a watch fort a ghat route. You will find that only TREKDI takes you to this offbeat destination.

Though Bhairavgad as a fort doesn't have much attraction, its location itself is extremely beautiful. We can get excellent view of Dense Jungle. The Bhairav temple and Shivaji Maharaj Idol is another attraction. Trek is categorised as easy grade difficulty but medium grade endurance.

Looking at its well-dug cisterns, the fort can be said to be belonging to Bhoj-period. But no such evidences are available. In 16th century, Portuguese captured this fort from the King of Gujarat.
