DESCRIPTION    ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER has been designed for rapid descaling of waterside deposits.  It is a nonvolatile, non-hygroscopic, odourless powder, which is compounded of dry acid, inhibitors, and wetting agents. DESCALEX POWDER has an unlimited shelf life and is completely soluble in water. It contains no chlorides, has low corrosion rates, and will not stress-crack stainless steel.  USAGE  ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER dissolves water scale and rust deposits in heat exchangers, air conditioning plants, intercoolers and similar equipment.  It is also effective in descaling oil wells and industrial water wells.  ADVANTAGES  1. ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER reduces maintenance costs and lowers labor requirements due to faster, more efficient, regularly scheduled cleaning. 2. ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER reduces the need of extensive dismantling while cleaning inaccessible areas such as small tubes, short bends, and irregular surfaces. 3. ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER reduces the dangers and handling problems of liquid acids with no sacrifice to efficiency.  APPLICATION  ROCHEM DESCALEX POWDER is normally used as a 5% water solution (50 Kilos of DESCALEX POWDER per metric ton of water) which is equivalent to a 10% solution of ROCHEM Descaling Liquid. DESCALEX POWDER should be dissolved in warm water unless agitation is employed with cold water.  The equipment being cleaned is filled with the 5% DESCALEX POWDER solution and agitated with air or steam, but preferably with a pump capable of providing good circulation.  Circulation time required will vary from a few hours to 24 hours.  For maximum results the solution temperature should be held between 60°C (140°F) and 77°C (170°F).  After completing the cleaning, the equipment should be drained and then neutralized by introducing ROCHEM ALKLEEN in 1% water solution (10 Kilos of ALKLEEN per metric ton of water).  Fill the equipment with the ALKLEEN solution and circulate it through the system for at least an hour.  The pH value of the solution should stay above 8.  If necessary, add more ALKLEEN until satisfactory pH is maintained.  Drain the ALKLEEN solution then flush the system twice with fresh water.  By its sequestering action the ALKLEEN solution will prevent redeposition of undissolved solids on the metal surfaces and permit thorough removal by blow-down.

DESCRIPTION ROCHEM VAPTREAT LIQUID is a concentrated liquid blend of synthetic polymers and defoaming agents formulated to prevent scale deposits and foaming in high and low pressure evaporators. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS Appearance : Pale yellow liquid. Flash Point : None pH of 1% Solution : 9.2 Specific Gravity : 1.09 ADVANTAGES VAPTREAT LIQUID prevents scale formation by crystal distortion, dispersion, and absorption of scales forming minerals. It also prevents foaming and carry-over thus maintaining distilled water quality. Crystal Distortion – As soluble minerals are forced out of solution during evaporation they go through an intermediate crystal stage before forming dense deposits. VAPTREAT LIQUID reacts with the crystals causing them to be distorted and irregularly shaped. The distorted crystals do not form dense and uniform deposits which would adhere to evaporator surfaces. Dispersion and Absorption – VAPTREAT LIQUID disperses solid materials formed during evaporation by absorbing them into the polymers. The polymer gives the absorbed particles electrical like charges causing them to repel each other and therefore preventing agglomeration and deposition. APPLICATION VAPTREAT LIQUID should be fed continuously to the evaporator feed inlet line from a dosage tank. VAPTREAT LIQUID can be diluted with fresh water and the feed solution should be dosed using an eductor or positive displacement metering pump. DOSAGE The standard dosage, applicable to most systems, is 15-30 ml of Vaptreat per ton of distillate produced. This is based on the rated production capacity of the evaporator. Example: In a 25 ton/day evaporator, treatment used = 25 x 30 ml = 750 ml of Vaptreat per day. Flow rate calculation: Mix 750 ml of Vaptreat with water to the dosage tank capacity (say 50 ltrs). ROCHEMITE prevents slag build-up by means of a chemical reaction.  It also removes existing combustion deposits and slag from the refractory coating and metal fireside surfaces of boiler tubes, superheaters, exhaust gas uptakes and exhaust gas boilers.  SPECIFICATIONS Colour      :  Grey or Brown Apparent Density    :  0.9 Flash point    :  None Chlorides     :  None Shelf-life      :  Indefinite  APPLICATION ROCHEMITE is injected into the boiler furnace first or second draft depending on boiler type and construction.  A minimum gas temperature of only 300°C is required for effective cleaning as ROCHEMITE does not burn but forms a dense vapour that reaches into all parts of the boiler reacting with  the  fireside  deposits  and  reducing  these  to  a  soft  powder.    Manual  cleaning  and  soot  blowing  is  reduced  to  a  minimum  or  can  even  be eliminated completely.  Reaction with Rochemite forms a protective film on clean surfaces thus preventing attack by aggressive acids in both high an low temperature zones.  CORROSION PROTECTION Combustion deposits in untreated boilers contain Sulphur compounds resulting in a pH of 1 to 3.  Although this means that the slag is corrosive, nothing is known about the total acid content. However both pH and acid content influence each other. For example, if the pH increases by one point the acid content correspondingly decreases by 90%. ROCHEMITE increases the pH and consequently reduces the acid content in such a way that free sulphuric acid (H 2 SO 4 ) is kept to a minimum; Thus the presence of Ferreous Sulphate (FeSO4) is eliminated.  ROCHEMITE prevents Sulphur corrosion when applied regularly.

APPLICATION and DOSAGE  Rochem  Sludge  Breaker  is  applied  directly  to  the  tanks  requiring  treatment.  Maintaining  tank  contents  and  Sludge Breaker at 30°C or above produces even better results. DESCRIPTION Effective January 1st, 2010, the European Union mandates the consumption of 0.1% sulphur content marine gasoil (MGO) for vessels in ports (directive 2005/33/EU). The vessels calling on California ports must operate on a 0.5% sulphur distillate fuel no less than 24 nautical miles from port according to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This requires a transition for main engines operating on heavy fuel to the new low sulphur distillate fuel. Unfortunately, the hydro processing process used to remove the sulphur from fuels also removes the lubricity properties of the fuel. The injection equipment of diesel engines is prone to excessive pump wear when using low or ultra-low sulphur fuels, since this kind of fuels have relatively low viscosity and reduced lubricating value. FOT - LOW SULPHUR FUEL is a new, concentrated lubricity additive for use in low sulfur diesel fuel, ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and 0.1% sulfur MGO. FOT - LOW SULPHUR FUEL stabilizes the fuel and improves the lubricity of the fuel, the fuel pumps and injectors and maintains clean injectors. Do not let METAL BRITE dry up on metal surfaces as it may leave a hard white deposit on the surface.  Be sure to wash surface thoroughly with water.  • Pre-treatment of Steel Surfaces prior painting: Remove any oil and grease.  Remove old paint and scale by chipping or wire brushing. Wet down entire surface with METAL BRITE and allow to dry.  If rust exists on a pitted surface, more than one application may be required to remove rust.  Surface should have a grayish white appearance when METAL BRITE is dry.  The steel surface will now have a high resistance to rust and will present a good tooth for bonding of paint.  • Phosphatizing Steel Surfaces: For prevention of rust on steel surfaces that cannot be painted, METAL BRITE is applied full strength to an oil/grease-free steel surface and allowed to soak for 15 to 20 minutes.  Wash surface thoroughly with fresh water and remove all METAL BRITE. The surface will now be rust resistant. • Rust Stains on wood or Painted Surfaces: Heavy rust stains may require full strength METAL BRITE but light stains will disappear with diluted solution of METAL BRITE and water.  Use approximately ½ parts of fresh water with one part of METAL BRITE.  Apply solution with brush, rags, spray etc. and allow to soak for 20 to 30 minutes: Wash off with water.  Repeat application to remove stubborn stains.  PRECAUTIONS ROCHEM METAL BRITE will not damage good dry paint, wood or caulking material; however, it is an acid solution and should not be used on zinc or galvanised metals.  Avoid contact with skin or eyes as it causes skin irritation. It is particularly effective for cleaning of Metal/Ceramic Oil filters and permanently fixed Oil Coolers or Heaters. These units are regularly contaminated by suspended particles in partially carbonized oils. Timely cleaning prevents the formation of hard coke like adherents which are difficult to remove at a later stage.   ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER is equally efficient for in-place cleaning (CIRCULATION METHOD) and for soaking of individual parts (DIP TANK METHOD).  It may be desirable to heat ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER if you encounter heavy carbon deposits or if rapid cleaning is necessary.  Heating to 49°C (120°F) will quadruple the solvency power.  However, it is recommended that the temperature does not exceed 60°C (140°F). Nor should heat be used in an enclosed or unventilated area.   Dip Tank Method: Simply immerse the parts to be cleaned into a suitable container filled with ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER.  Hang the objects in a wire basket or from a wire so they are off the bottom and completely immersed in the solvent. It is desirable to stir or agitate the solvent when the deposits are exceptionally heavy.  When clean, rinse the parts with water and then dry by wiping or with compressed air.  Stubborn deposits can be brushed away with a stiff bristle brush once they have been softened by ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER.  To reduce soaking time use heat as described above.   Circulation method: Remove excess oil remaining in the fuel oil heater to be cleaned by blowing air or steam through the oil side.  Connect the recirculation system which requires a circulation pump, carbon remover reservoir and temporary hoses or pipes. (Connect hose from the reservoir to the suction side of pump, connect hose from the pump discharge to fuel oil heater, and connect hose from opposite end of fuel oil heater back to reservoir).  Circulate ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER from 4 to 24 hours, depending on the type of deposits to be removed as well as temperature of the circulating solvent. When completed, drain the solvent to the reservoir, then flush the unit with flushing oil, steam or water.  If steam is required, admit steam to the steam side of the heater.  After extensive use, ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER is likely to get contaminated with sludge and deposits.  At this time pour off the liquid, clean the deposits from the tank, then return the liquid adding fresh ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER to make up for the used up quantity.  HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: When using ROCHEM FILTER CLEANER, ensure adequate ventilation and keep away from extreme heat or open flame. Avoid breathing vapors. Do not let eyes, skin, or clothing come in direct contact with the liquid.  If swallowed seek medical attention.  Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated place.

It removes weld slag, annealing scale, grinding dust and iron parts etc.  Applications Rochem Pickling Liquid is used mainly for pickling installations and tanks. It may be used in the following ways: 1.    By circulation 2.    Spraying 3.    In immersion baths  Directions for use  Pretreatment Before commencing clean and degrease the surfaces to be pickled, this will give the basis for uniform pickling. Use Rochem Electrosol Quick Dry to remove felt pen ink marks. Use Rochem Aquatuff for degreasing small metal surfaces. To degrease tanks etc. we recommend USE of 1-5% solution of Rochem Multiclean HD in warm water.  After pickling rinse thoroughly with a water jet.  Circulation method This method is used mainly for pipe systems. Fill the system with cold undiluted Rochem Pickling Liquid. Pickling will take 2 to 6 hours depending on the degree of soiling and on the kind of austenitic steel do not pickle longer than necessary. Drain the system and rinse carefully, preferably with demineralised water. After rinsing, if required passivation should follow immediately. Before disposing the pickling liquid it should be neutralised with slaked lime.  Immersion bath method Fill a plastic or plastic lined bath with undiluted Pickling Liquid. Place the articles to be pickled into the bath and leave them to soak for 1 to 6 hours depending on the degree of soiling and the kind of austenitic steel Remove the articles from the bath and spray them with a powerful water jet. Demineralised water should preferably be used for this purpose. Passivation should follow immediately after spraying.  Passivation A protective oxide layer will form on the austenitic stainless steel only if oxidizing conditions are present. For example during longterm rinsing in oxygen rich water of during storage in the open air. In these circumstances the steel automatically passivates. Because this passive layer takes a long time to develop to the correct thickness we recommend passivating with Rochem Passivating Liquid, particularly if the stainless steel is exposed to corrosive conditions soon after the pickling treatment. Good results are obtained if the object is sprayed/brushed with Rochem Passivating Liquid immediately after it has been rinsed. Rinse with plenty of water after approx. 5 minutes.  Treatment of the effluent To neutralise the acid and to make the fluorides and heavy metals insoluble the effluent water & paste should treated with slaked lime to give a pH balance of 8.5-9. After the soluble substances have settled the uncontaminated water may be drained. Isolate the insoluble contamination and if possible drain by means of filtration, otherwise mix with sawdust and dispose of as chemical waste.  Properties Strong acidic product containing nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Fully miscible with water. Suitable only for use on austenitic stainless steel. DESCRIPTION ROCHEMITE is an inorganic compound in powder form for application in coal or oil fired boilers, exhaust gas boilers, incinerators and process furnaces. ROCHEMITE prevents slag build-up by means of a chemical reaction.  It also removes existing combustion deposits and slag from the refractory coating and metal fireside surfaces of boiler tubes, superheaters, exhaust gas uptakes and exhaust gas boilers.  SPECIFICATIONS Colour   : Grey or Brown Apparent Density  : 0.9 Flash point  : None Chlorides   : None Shelf-life   : Indefinite  APPLICATION ROCHEMITE is injected into the boiler furnace first or second draft depending on boiler type and construction.  A minimum gas temperature of only 300°C is required for effective cleaning as ROCHEMITE does not burn but forms a dense vapour that reaches into all parts of the boiler reacting with the fireside deposits and reducing these to a soft powder.  Manual cleaning and soot blowing is reduced to a minimum or can even be eliminated completely.  Reaction with Rochemite forms a protective film on clean surfaces thus preventing attack by aggressive acids in both high an low temperature zones.  CORROSION PROTECTION Combustion deposits in untreated boilers contain Sulphur compounds resulting in a pH of 1 to 3.  Although this means that the slag is corrosive, nothing is known about the total acid content. However both pH and acid content influence each other. For example, if the pH increases by one point the acid content correspondingly decreases by 90%. ROCHEMITE increases the pH and consequently reduces the acid content in such a way that free sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is kept to a minimum; Thus the presence of Ferreous Sulphate (FeSO4) is eliminated.  ROCHEMITE prevents Sulphur corrosion when applied regularly.  DOSAGE A. Injection – oil / Coal Fired boilers The dosage depends on the Boilers capacity, type of fuel used and Sulphur content thereof. 1. The required quantity of ROCHEMITE is blown, by means of an injector, into the furnace, if possible into the highest temperature zone of the flame. 2. Inject ROCHEMITE after soot blowing has been completed. Inject in the shortest possible time. 3. If possible reduce the draft in the boiler for 2-4 minutes during and after injection in order to allow the ROCHEMITE vapour to spread throughout the boiler. 4. The speed of the chemical reaction is greater at higher temperatures. 5. The part of the boiler to be treated in particular should not be at a distance greater than 10-12 meter from the injection point.  B. Injection – Diesel Engines uptakes/ Exhaust Gas Boilers  To prevent slag build-up in exhaust gas uptakes and boilers, ROCHEMITE is applied as follows: 1. Fit injector in exhaust gas line just prior to or just after the turbo charger. 2. Inject ROCHEMITE with compressed air for a few seconds. 3. Inject ROCHEMITE only at full load of engine as a temperature of minimum 300°C is required to vaporize ROCHEMITE. 4. Dosage and frequency depend on fuel consumption, fouling problem, etc and may vary from 2 to 4 kg every day to every three days.

Maintaining tank contents and  Sludge Breaker at 30°C or above produces even better results. The concentration of sulphur trioxide in the flue gas in relation to sulphur dioxide is dependant on the excess air employed and the presence of vanadium and iron oxide.  It has been estimated that 75% of the sulphur trioxide is formed from sulphur dioxide in the combustion area.  The reaction occurs as a result of sulphur dioxide combining with nascent oxygen and is aided by the catalytic effect of vanadium and iron oxide.  Sulphur trioxide concentration in the flue gas determines the acid dew point.  Acid dew point is defined as that temperature at which the  water vapour present in the flue gas as a result of combustion can combine with sulphur trioxide to form sulphuric acid.  Low temperature corrosion results when the flue gas cools below the acid dew point.  This condition is found in pre-heaters, economizers, cold end of boilers and in the stack.  This problem is particularly severe when maximum heat recovery from the flue gas is desired.
