Referigerant Gases
Refrigerant gases are commercial gases that are used as a heat exchange material. Most
of the early refrigerants which were toxic, corrosive, or flammable, have been replaced by
chlorofluorocarbons, but even these have come under intense scrutiny in the 90’s as
suspected ozone destroyers. Some examples of early refrigerant gases/liquids are sulfur
dioxide (SO2) and ammonia (NH3).
