If there is a heaven on Earth, then it is in Kashmir (read Ladakh). Wonder, is the fastest and the shortest way for a tourist to enjoy the best of the ancient monasteries, clear water lakes, and high altitude roads of Ladakh. The highlight of this trip is a visit to Khardung La Pass, the highest motorable pass in the world along with visit to Pangong Tso, one of the most famous and breathtaking lakes in the world.
Leh, the capital of Ladakh, has been an important junction on the famous Silk Route of the olden times. It is also the second largest district of the country spreading in an area of 45,110 sq kms. Located at an altitude of 11,562 ft, it is still dominated by the ruins of the Leh Palace (a major tourist attraction), the former residence of the royal family of Ladkah, built on the lines of the Potala Palace, Tibet. It boasts of being home to several known ancient Buddhist monasteries. It is one of the most-visited destinations in Ladakh and has a lot to offer.
Ladakh is the land of endless discovery with snow-capped mountains of great Himalayan. Ladakh, the region of mountain passes, a piece of broken moon land- a perfect place to witness the unmatched beauty of nature. Ladakh is the highest plateau of the Indian state of Kashmir with much of it being over 3,000m. It lies between 32 to 36 degree north latitude and 75 to 80 degree east longitude. The total area of 45110sq km makes Ladakh the largest district in India. Ladakh region is bifurcated in Kargil and Leh districts. Kargil lies at an altitude of 2750m and Leh at 3505m. The largest town in Ladakh is Leh.
Ladakh is a high altitude desert as the Himalayas create a rain shadow thus prohibiting the entry of monsoon clouds. The main source of water here remains the winter snowfall on the mountains that forms the glaciers. Like in the rest of the parts of the country where people pray for rain, here Ladakhis pray for the glaciers or snows to melt for irrigation and drinking purposes. Surprisingly though, the thin air makes the heat of the sun even more intense than at lower altitudes. Only in Ladakh can a man sitting in the sun with his feet in the shade suffer from sunstroke n frostbite at the same time.

Rajmachi (Udhewadi) is a small village in the rugged mountains of Sahyadri in India. There are two forts which were built by Emperor Shivaji during 17th century. It is a famous spot for trekking.
This fort is located near two famous hills of Maharashtra, Lonavala and Khanadala. Its height from sea level is 2710 feet. It offers an amazing view of the Sahyadri mountains and the backwaters of Shirota Dam.
It is about 15 km treking distance from Lonavala. Rajmachi fort is a strategic fort overlooking Borghat(ghat between Mumbai and Pune) which was a historical trade route. Rajmachi peak has two fortified structures – the Shrivardhan fort and Manaranjan fort. Rajmachi can be reached by 2 ways, the tough route from Kondivade village near Karjat and the other easy but long way route from Lonavala. In rainy season this place is filled with giant waterfalls and greenery.
Rajmachi Fort is famous for trekking. The beautiful place is has exotic natural locations as well as it is a historic site.
Near Kalbhairavnath Temple, there is some space that can be used as a campsite. Those who do not want to stay outside can stay inside the temple. There is a tank, which is 100m away on a path to the left of the temple, water is available here. One has to cook his own food or buy some village-made food of Bhakri and Chutney. Once the trekkers reach the fort, one will realize that the climb was really meaningful.
Opposite to Kalbhairavnath Temple, there is another fort called Shreevardhan. The fort has lots of secret tunnels leading to battlements. There is a place called Manranjan behind the temple that gives one a nice view of the plains. Trekkers who want to explore the area can go the base of Manranjan where there are some simple rock-cut caves. Return route is easier to follow; still trekkers are to be careful while getting down from the steep slopes.

Daman & Diu at its best
There is no time line when it comes to visiting Daman & Diu. After all mother nature has so many things in her lap that you cannot explore in a fixed schedule but still the preferred time to visit the twin islands starts fromOctober and lasts till May. Pleasing climate with cool breeze can be felt throughout the year.
Daman & Diu at a glance
Inviting beaches, natural splendour, perfect climate and massive forts, if this is your idea of tour, Daman & Diu will be the best place you can visit. Being the second smallest union territory of India, Daman & Diu has much to offer in quite small area. Sandy beaches and purity of nature are the two things that bound one to visit this place again and again. Visiting Daman & Diu is like experiencing the history. Pinch of two cultures will not only introduce you to different traditions but also will make you aware of the love and bonding between them.
A beautiful blend of sea, sand and sun, Diu is a God’s gift to those in quest of a blessed land where the weary weight of this unintelligible world can, for a while, be lightened and the waking soul can hear the music of the nature. This tiny island of breeze, beauty and serenity situated off the southern tip of the Saurashtra (Kathiawad) peninsula of Gujarat, lapped by the Arabian Sea, is a picture of calmness with superb beaches and a fascinating history.
The Church of Bom Jesus: Dedicated to Bom Jesus, this Church was built in the early 17th century and has a major Portuguese influence. One of the most impressive architectural sights in Daman, its richly carved doorway and the highly decorated interiors are aesthetic and pleasing. It has been recently renovated and since then has acquired a luxuriously carved portal and an ornamental altar. Definitely worth a visit, since the church attracts both tourists and pilgrims in large numbers.
Fort of Nani Daman: The Fort is enclosed with high stone walls along with three bastions and two getaways. The most attractive and prominent part of the fort is the giant getaway facing the river with a large statue of St. Jerome and two giant human figures, on either side of the gateway. The 1901 Church of Our Lady of the Sea inside the walls is definitely worth a visit. Also located to the north is a Jain temple with 18th century murals depicting the life of the Mahavira.
