Expanded metal is a form of metal stock made by shearing a metal plate in a press, so that the metal stretches, leaving diamond-shaped voids surrounded by interlinked bars of the metal. Expanded metal is mainly applied as platforms and stair trends for construction, vessels bridges and boilers. They are also used as reinforcement for light construction materials and concrete pouring, radiator grills on all types of vehicles and air compressors, safety guard for gear drive equipment on various kinds of machines. Expanded metal is also used in grates and in outdoor furniture (e.g. benches) or fencing. It is often used for guarding to prevent contact with hot surfaces or machinery
A major advantage of expanded is that the mesh is formed from a single piece of material so the process is not wasteful and therefore cost effective.
Because of its jointless continuity it is a highly efficient conductor of electricity, magnetic flux and heat. Expanded mesh can be supplied in a variety of finishes, thickness, raised or flattened. Flattened is smoother and does not indent soft materials if this is a consideration but is not as strong as the more robust raised mesh. Powder coating in your choice of colour will enhance its aesthetic appearance and add to its corrosion resistance as would plastic coating.

Chain Link Fencing is produced with quality galvanized wire or PVC coated galvanized wire and is normally used for protection around machinery or in test areas, protection against flying objects yet permitting visibility of operations behind screens and its is also used in outdoor fencing for security purposes.
The wires run vertically and are bent into a zig-zag pattern so that each "zig" hooks with the wire immediately on one side and each "zag" with the wire immediately on the other. This forms the characteristic diamond pattern seen in this type of fence.
fencing usually comes in 50 ft rolls which can be joined by "unscrewing" one of the end wires and then "screwing" it back in so that it hooks both pieces. The popularity of chain-link fence is due to its relatively low cost and ease of installation. A further advantage is that due to the open weave, chain-link fences are transparent, and do not obscure sunlight from either side of the fence. If a semi-opaque fence is desired, this can be achieved by the insertion of slats into the mesh.
